Edward Shuttleworth Holden was the eldest son of Reverend Charles Edward Shuttleworth Holden, of Aston Hall, Aston on Trent.
He joined the 23rd Welch Fusiliers and died of wounds received in the assault on the Redan at the Siege of Sebastapol. He is considered to be Aston on Trent’s first military casualty.
